The groups are small with an average of 5 and are held in the Carthouse studio which is attached to Winifred's cottage in Redmire. The courses are structured to develop and extend good painting techniques and to inspire confidence in painters, whatever their ability and experience in developing their own individual approach and style. Learning to simplify, looking at composition, tonal balance, the colour palette, and confident brush handling are some of the things that will be addressed. Working in any medium is possible and experimenting with new mediums is encouraged but the emphasis is on painting for pure pleasure and enjoyment!

The Yorkshire Dales are beautiful and the scenery around Redmire is no exception. Weather permitting, with the needs of the group in mind, we usually enjoy sketching and painting trips to the nearby River Ure, Castle Bolton or the moor above the village.
